DIANE CHASSERESSE / 1988
has been a complex mixed media project started in the late 80ties of the 20th century.
An untitled painting series, #1-5, has been realized as well as a bunch of drawings – collages – prints – mixed media pieces and design for sculptural objects.
Furthermore there exists an installation concept with performative aspects as well as a comprehensive archive of text materials.
As the story goes, I could imagine to show up this body of work today.
WORKS SELECTION
DIANE CHASSERESSE #1 – 5, 1988
5 paintings, 211 x 111 cm each, wood stain, ink, colored pencil, gold dust on rayon, mounted on masonite

Hilu Zanke, 1988
***
At first glance, the Diana painting series reminds me of fire salamanders, autumn in the forest and cascading gold. In places, the gold moves like viscous, slow yet unstoppable lava, emerging from the darkness of night.
In contrast the other are earth-coloured. They clump together or twist into shapes like fruits or open chestnuts with spiny husks. Again, there is that lava-like, liquid golden slurry. I’m now thinking of the hunt: blood and gold; festive entrails. Yes, there is much that is torn to shreds. I recall the myth as if everything that exists — men, women, forests and animals — were once again dissolved by intense heat; thoroughly boiled and crushed like grapes turning into wine.
